About Me

I'm and author an illustrator of children's books and stories (for children K-12). To see my current and past projects, check out the Projects page.

I love languages and cultures, and my experience living in both Mexico and Japan influences some of my work. In previous lifetimes, I taught English in Japan, practiced family law in Fort Worth, and worked for Japan-related non-profits. I recently moved to Miami, after living in Dallas/Fort Worth for more than a decade. I love my new home by the sea, but, as all born and bred Hoosiers do, I have an undeniable soft spot for Indiana.

When I’m not reading or writing, I love playing taiko (Japanese drums), promoting US-Japan friendship, flying airplanes, volunteering at the animal shelter, and exploring secret corners of the universe.
